Arthur's Seat Home

New 4 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Bushfire-resistant home on top of Arthur's Seat. Under construction.

The client, owners and winemakers of award-winning winery, Ocean Eight on the Mornington Peninsula had a problem. Due to onerous planning constraints and a high Bushfire-attack level, to extend their existing home on top of Arthur's Seat meant extensive upgrades to the existing building fabric.

After obtaining a planning permit for an extension, they decided that it was easier and as cost-effective to demolish and rebuild.

We came on board at this point and worked with them to define their brief for both the short and long term, providing for future expansion in line with their family and funds available.

Key brief requirements were:

  • Bushfire Resistance

  • Energy efficiency through passive solar design.

  • Resilient materials and finishes both inside and out

  • Indoor/outdoor entertainment space

  • Capitalise on the view

  • Cellar
