Great Otway Constructions

‘We want to live in the view’ was the brief for this holiday home which sits atop Lorne Heights and commands vistas from Lorne pier to Aireys Inlet. This drove every angle of the design, carefully articulated to sit within the Council allowable setbacks, whilst maximizing this connection to the panoramic coastline.

Sustainability was key, with water tanks, solar array, thermal break windows, and materials that will stand the test of time – Colorcoat standing seam, equitone and rammed earth being the external materials.

Keen to ensure their families would spend their holidays with them, the house has 5 bedrooms across two levels, with separate rumpus and study, and a cantilevered balcony that takes in all the views. Able to be partitioned off with café blinds and ceiling heaters, this will be space utilized year-round.

"The floorplan uniquely spills out around this central outdoor space, as the original part of the house was converted into a wing of bedrooms for their three kids".
